Unlike today, there were not too many Nigerian startups and online destinations in 2009. I started Gistcaster right alongside many others who also sprung up. I still vividly remember Yarnable, YarnPad, Naijaborn, Turenchi, and many other Nigerian tech startups that started that period.
Today, only a handful of these startups are still online; most of them are dead, or simply deserted as a ghost town.
Over the years, I’ve managed to somehow stubbornly hang on to Gistcaster.com, not letting go, keeping my hopes alive that one day I was going to return to work at Gistcaster and start all over again. 2014 is that year!
The interesting thing is that the gap I wanted Gistcaster to fill is still out there, the problems Gistcaster wanted to solve are still unsolved. I take that as a sign from God that He really wants me to reboot up Gistcaster, and that’s what we gonna do! This year 2014, its all about Gistcaster! Omnific Works has taken a break alongside all its numerous projects… All grounded! This year, its just Gistcaster and a music blog I plan to run fully as my personal projects while my freelancer work keeps going strong (If you want to develop anything; website or App – I’m your man!).
It is interesting that in 2014, I will be working on Gistcaster and a Music blog because that is exactly the state I was in 2009: Gistcaster and a Music site (Anyone remembers RiRanWo.com??). So, in some ways I am indeed back to start all over from where I was in 2009 only that this time I will be working with the knowledge and lessons learnt last time.
People say persistence is the key; My Mentor always encourages me to ‘Dig again’, to take a clue from Isaac and never stop trying until I get to my Rehoboth.
So, this is it folks, A persistent Ademola Morebise is digging back into Gistcaster.
Stay tuned!
P.S.
It has been decided that the brand for my music blog will be…. OneCrier 😉
